A vintage Carl Zeiss Jena outside micrometer bearing the distinctive “Maihak 69” marking. The Carl Zeiss Jena name and additional company marking give this instrument a character of its own for collectors of historical precision instruments and industrial heritage.
According to the background supplied by the seller, the marking refers to H. Maihak AG of Hamburg, associated with precision instruments, marine engine indicators and later audio and studio equipment. The seller believes Maihak purchased this micrometer from Zeiss Jena for internal use. This specific provenance and any use in a measuring room have not been documented; the marking alone does not establish that history. Exceptional rarity or an official collaboration between the two companies has not been established either.
The instrument bears the Carl Zeiss Jena name, a 0–25 mm measuring range, 0.01 mm graduations and a 20° marking. Additional markings include “Maihak 69” and identification number U50459.
According to the seller, the micrometer moves smoothly, presents well and has attractive measuring faces. The metal surfaces show signs of use, scratches and superficial discoloration, as shown in the photographs. Measuring accuracy has not been verified, and no calibration or accuracy guarantee is provided. Offered as a historical collectible.
