A historic scientific instrument set bearing the name Gebr. Caminada, Rotterdam: two glass hydrometers and a Celsius thermometer housed in a slender wooden case with dark velvet lining and fitted recesses. The fine scales, elongated glass bulbs, and decorative maker’s label inside the lid give this set a distinctive presence in a collection of scientific instruments.

Caminada, Rotterdam.” This refers to a hundred-division hydrometer and the Royal Decree of April 20, 1863. The decree date is part of the inscription, not an established manufacturing date.
The thermometer bears the inscription “Thermometer-Celsius,” the marking “1925,” and No. 7178.
