This robust diagnostic instrument is a striking example of functional design and industrial aesthetics. The detailed German-language diagrams inside the lid refer to automotive electrical testing, including starter current (Anlasserstrom) and generator current (Lichtmaschinenstrom). The instrument combines an analog voltmeter and ammeter for direct current, as indicated by the inscription “Nur für Gleichstrom!”
Its distinctive visual presentation gives this piece its character. The meter is housed in a well-worn wooden carrying case with a rich patina. Opening the lid reveals a metal-finish front panel with substantial black terminals and a prominent, contrasting black housing around the analog dial. The wiring diagrams inside the lid and the pictured connecting cable with a fork terminal are included.
