Vintage analog ohmmeter (resistance meter), according to the seller produced by the renowned German manufacturer Gossen, made especially for the Deutsche Bundespost. This is easy to recognize from the post horn logo, the "Post" marking inside the lid and the stamps on the housing.
The set is complete with the original leather carrying case by Ludwig Schröder of Ansbach (1969) and the matching test leads. The back of the meter carries the post horn emblem with the number 140 and an orange date stamp from 1972, most likely a Bundespost inspection date.
The condition is exceptionally nice and the instrument represents a wonderful piece of bakelite telecom history. An instrument like this once hung from the belt of a German postal service technician; today it is an atmospheric collector's item with a story.
