A distinctive instrument from the history of anesthesia, this mechanical Dräger Narkoseuhr combines a central clock with scales for determining pulse and respiratory rates. Its gray-green hammer-finish housing, polished metal bezel, and contrasting dial give it a striking medical-industrial appearance.
The lower edge of the dial is marked DRÄGER NARKOSEUHR. German inscriptions refer to counting 15 heartbeats and 5 breaths, with corresponding scales indicating the rate per minute.
