A beautifully complete vintage outdoor instrument: the K&R (Kasper & Richter) / Kommit “Camping” marching compass, accompanied by its original factory box and multilingual instruction sheet. According to the information supplied, this compass was manufactured in West Germany. It reflects the European postwar tradition of camping, scouting, and outdoor exploration. The folding compass features a robust, textured black plastic case with an integrated sighting mirror in the lid. The supplied specifications describe a fluid-damped capsule with luminous markings and a dual-scale display incorporating both standard 360-degree graduations and 6400 NATO mils. These graduations do not guarantee its present-day accuracy. The retro cardboard box and comprehensive instruction sheet make this an appealing set for collectors of historical navigation instruments and vintage scouting and camping equipment. It also makes a distinctive display piece for a library shelf or a collection of classic outdoor gear. Brand/attribution, according to the supplied information: Kasper & Richter / Kommit. Model: Marschkompass “Camping” mirror bearing compass. Origin, according to the supplied information: West Germany. Included: original factory box and original instruction sheet in German, English, French, and Italian. Dimensions: approximately 8 × 6 × 3 cm. Weight: 52 grams. Condition: Described by the seller as being in excellent vintage condition, with a crisp plastic case free of cracks and an intact fluid capsule. The cardboard box shows visible edge and surface wear. Please examine the photographs for the visible condition and included components. Use: Before any navigational use, check that the compass needle moves freely and verify the instrument’s operation, as appropriate for a vintage fluid-damped compass.
