€350,00 EUR
A distinctive vintage Massi disc micrometer with a wooden case, preserved maker's label, and German instruction label inside the lid. The dark, textured finish of the frame contrasts beautifully with the silver-colored thimble and knurled adjustment rings. An appealing ensemble for collectors of historical measuring instruments and precision tools, or as a display piece in a study or collection. Instrument and Historical Details The instrument bears the Massi logo, a measuring range of 0–20 mm, and graduation markings of 0.01 mm. Its disc-shaped measuring faces give this micrometer its distinctive appearance. According to the supplied identification, it is an East German disc micrometer, also described as a Flankenschraublehre, made by VEB Messzeug- und Werkzeugfabrik Werdau. The opposite side of the frame displays a triangle containing the number 1 and additional identification markings. The supplied information identifies this as the DDR Gütezeichen quality mark, with factory code 36/398/1002 and the designation 3 g. This historical identification has not been independently verified. Wooden Case and Instruction Label The accompanying wooden case has fitted wooden supports, metal hinges, and clasps. Its blue and silver “MASSI QUALITÄT” label remains on the exterior. A German paper instruction label is preserved inside the lid. It explains that the adjustment key formerly supplied is unnecessary because any play in the spindle thread can be adjusted by hand using the knurled nut. The loose rod shown in the photographs is included. Condition and Specifications According to the seller, the set is complete, in very nice condition, and the mechanism operates smoothly. Visible signs of use and age are present on the instrument, wood, and labels. Please examine the photographs for details. The 0.01 mm graduations do not guarantee current measuring accuracy.
